Today is the original Aleene’s birthday! Yes, the real live Aleene who created the glue. Being tacky is oh so awesome when it means I get to go overboard with Aleene’s Orginal TACKY Glue, especially on the creator’s birthday! Making this Valentines Day pennant banner to decorate and showcase our Cupid gifts was fun and simple.
It takes time because of the drying requirement for the glue. The first step should be done a day in advance. “Draw” hearts and dots with glue all over watercolor paper and set them out to dry. When the hearts are dry, cut them out leaving a small border of paper around the edges. Using any watercolor paints, paint the watercolor paper hearts inside and outside of the glue designs in pinks and reds then set them aside to dry.The pennant pieces that I made were from 5×7 inch note cards cut in half and trimmed to triangles. I glued them to a ribbon measuring about 4 feet in length with Aleene’s awesome glue and then glued the watercolors hearts and dots to the triangles. I added buttons to the middle triangle because, well just because I love buttons!Let it dry then hang it up!I used the extra big heart on my cupid gift for Ryp, my adorable husband. He probably won’t read this blog so he won’t know until Valentines Day that this treat bag is for him which is probably a good thing so he doesn’t think to peek in it.
I cannot even imagine how many millions of projects have been created over the years with Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue. The amount of love spread and shared through these projects is bound to have created immeasurable amounts of connection and joy. I am glad I get to be a part of that!!! Thank you I Love to Create for the glue and for supporting my creative career! Happy Birthday Aleene!
We made these in Zoe’s second grade class for her Valentines Day party. I did the glue hearts the night before so that they would be dry and ready.
Have fun spreading love and sweetness,
