New York City is such a happy place. This morning I woke up and took a walk in the neighborhood of the Morgan Hotel where I am staying for a few days. What started out as a breezy-fresh-air-wake-up walk (with a side agenda of taking a few pictures of turtle for Me and My Peeps Blog) quickly turned into a fabulous cultural, educational and historical learning experience. Right around the corner is the Consulate General Of The Republic of Poland in New York. It is gorgeous and massively amazing.I stopped to read the plaques and found myself deeply touched by the one beside the statue of the man, Jan Karski, a Just Man for sure. I definitely recommend reading more about him. He is a role model of power, connection and courage.I stared for a long time in wonder at this beautiful building, reflecting back on days gone by…wondering who was in it now…and who all has been before. Has it been a place of sactuary for any amongst chaos? Did it flood during the hurricane. Is massive amount of history hiding inside? Then angels that protect those who pass through the doors seem to tell a story of their own. I wonder what all they have seen and how many they have loved from their magical place above.
And then I walked on and found a Scandinavian hotel with a restaurant and gift shop, where I put these two awesome coffee cups on hold because the gift shop doesn’t open until noon. LOVE them!!! The literature and decor was spectacular here too. I can’t wait to go back later today after I finish meetings and working. Across the street is a beautiful church that was being blocked by traffic. Notice the taxi with the ANNIE sign on it. Yep, I really want to see that again. It was my first musical I saw with my mom when I was a little girl and I LOVE IT!!!And now it is time to get in gear and get going to General Fabrics. I can’t wait to see what else pops up in my space today. It is going to be a great one for sure.
Oh yeah, Valentines Day fabric. There is some cute stuff in Hancock that I designed. I got a sample yesterday and am happy to share a picture. You can buy it online which is easy peasy if you want some.
