Spring is almost here which means it is time to start getting things ready. My little friend Kylie came over to craft with me and make these beautiful flowerpots for her teachers last year. I meant to get them posted then but alas, time got away from me and it was all of a sudden summer and we were on to lemonade stands and freezer creations.
We painted the flowerpots using acrylic craft paints in pretty shades of green and blue. Once the paint was dry, we added a few sponged on white clouds and a row of grass around the bottom (also with acrylic paints) then we sprayed a good layer of Rustoleum Crystal Clear Enamel and let it dry.
To create the flowers we used ribbon and buttons, applied with hot glue from Adtech. To reinforce, we sprayed another later of the enamel over the top. Then we planted a few flowers and wah-lah…a fantastic teacher gift was born. She signed her masterpiece with my favorite, marker, SHARPIE!
Her sister, Emily, was over too. She had to create a memory box for her fifth grade memorabilia. She used random craft supplies from my studio and LOTS of buttons. She used Mod Podge to apply the magazine cutouts and photograph type pieces. It came out so adorable that I want to share it too.
I love when kids create great things, with a little bit of grown up help and a lot of their own creativity and imagination. It’s never to early to get the seeds planted!
Happy Getting Ready for Spring,
Laura
