The other day while I was at my Iowa home, it snowed and snowed and snowed and snowed…so we went craft shopping to find some fun things to do indoors. Instead, we found these little adorable bottles from Darice that looked perfect for making paint that would work in the snow. So we bought them, brought them home and made some paint (aka colored water) and decided outside was the place to be.
We filled the bottles with tap water and added food coloring to them to create six different colors then marked the colors on the bottles with a Sharpie marker because some of the colors looked similar in the bottles.
Then we bundled up and headed out into the snow. We practiced making flowers first, right beside where we plant our summer garden.
Then we doodled around the yard, on the birdhouse and on the picnic table.
We finished up at the play set, doodled a sun on the swing and put the paints in our storage bucket just in case the fairies we believe in wanted to borrow them when we weren’t looking. We checked the friendship mailbox and then headed in for some hot cocoa.
If you have kids who don’t want to brave the cold, you can do this fun project indoors simply by bringing in the snow. It works best on a tray or a cookie sheet.
Happy Snow Doodling!
