Getting girls together to craft is such a fabulous idea. What girl doesn’t love some Mod Podge turning into a journal for dreams, doodles and notes.
You will need composition books for each participant, scrapbook paper, Mod Podge, brushes, scissors, ribbon, Laura Kelly buttons (I used Watermelon and Black Beauty) and a Sharpie marker and hot glue.
The first step is to select a scrapbook paper that you like to use on the cover. I used black polka dots on white (the opposite of what I usually use). Cut it to the size you like then spread a thin even layer of Mod Podge over the entire area it will go. Place the paper on the Mod Podge and then spread another layer on top of it. Doodle a few flowers on a somewhat solid paper, cut them out and then Mod Podge them wherever you would like them to go.
The next step is to decorate inside the cover. Use the same method and papers you like to cover whatever you want on the inside covers.
To attach the ribbon that will tie your journal shut, use hot glue on the inside of each cover. Depending on how big you want your bow to be, measure each piece between 8-12 inches.
To add buttons, use hot glue. The last step is to add some messages. I listed lots of my BFFs. I know there are more but these are the first that came to mind. When you are done, tie it closed and keep it in a special place to journal your thoughts and feelings about friendship, summer and whatever else makes you feel happy in your heart.
Happy Being A Friend, Making Stuff Together and Summer,
PS: Here is a secret code alphabet. I loved writing in code when I was just a girl!
