Summertime means picnic time. Some people love to pack great treats and drinks and go find a fun place to eat. I like to pack great art supplies and go find a place to create. I decided to take a doodle picnic and create something fun!
I have a new art supply bag from Tombow that I loaded up with the things necessary for a successful doodle picnic and got myself ready for a hike through the woods to the creek. This is what I packed.
The contents include all of my favorite Tombow dual brush markers, blender pens and blender palettes. I love the palette that they sent me but I made one a little bigger for myself because I get a little color crazy. I also packed scissors, colored papers, blank note cards with envelopes, Tombow adhesives, buttons from my Buttons Galore palette, ribbon, watercolor paper, snacks, a drink, and my mini emergency kit in my cute little yellow Viewtainer. Oh yeah, and my pink headphones so I could listen to music on my iphone while I doodled.
Off I went and found the perfect spot in the middle of our neighborhood nature trail, across the creek and into the clearing in the woods.
Then I set up my picnic and doodled away…creating the magic of the scenery around me. I sketched with a permanent black and then used the dual brush markers (by use of the blender pen and the palette to get good shading) to add color.
I also doodled four little flower squares to make into little note cards.
I added lots of color to the flower squares, cut them out and added them as embellishments to pre-cut note cards and envelopes using Tombow‘s Power Adhesive Tabs. To finish them up, I added a few little buttons from my Laura Kelly palette of colors. I love the tabs because they are SUPER sticky and when they are too big, they tear easily into smaller pieces.
Then it was time to pack up and walk home. I neatly put it all back in to the bag, headed home and added a few buttons to my nature doodle. I mounted it, framed it and hung it in my studio, right above my desk.
It was fun. I love the creations. I have four note cards ready to write friendly notes and I am totally planning on taking another doodle picnic soon! Who wants to go?
