I loved Shrinky Dinks when I was little and reunited with that passion last evening as I was brainstorming fun goodies to send the upcoming participants for the “Me and My Peeps Blog Hop” coming up in July.
There are 18 designers. I love them all. I like to send things that are unique, special and fun to those who are supporting the building of my brand while using their creative talents to share creativity with their followers. This is what I came up with!
I ran to AC Moore, the closest craft store to my home and the one that carries the “Me and My Peeps” auto decals and bought the last two packs of Shrinky Dink paper (the kind that is already rough and ready to go), came home and got to work.
To test the process, I drew myself first, with Sharpie of course. I used my super awesome Tombow brand colorpencils to add character and design.
then cut out my shapes and followed the directions from the Shrinky Dink website to bake them. I added a thin layer of Glossy Mod Podge to them when they were cooled to make the rough side shinier. YES, I PUNCHED THE HOLES FIRST BEFORE BAKING SO I COULD USE THEM FOR CHARMS!
Then I grabbed my favorite colors of my Laura Kelly buttons from Buttons Galore and More, wire and a recycled jar and created a masterpiece to keep my Sharpies in.
I used buttons to fill the bottom part…so cute.
And since it worked, I drew all 18 of the blog hop participants, printed the directions and off they will ship to each of them today. Meet the Participants! I wonder if they will color and shrink???
Three Million Cheers for Crafts that We LOVED as kids and can still LOVE as grown up KIDS!
Happy Creating,
Laura
