I got a little crazy at Hobby Lobby and bought the material to make TEN projects with Rit Dye. Here is the before picture of the TEN sets of products I plan to use.
Here it is…project one of ten! I am in love with the way it turned out and ready to start number two. But first, let me share!
I dip dyed the paperboard apple in red heated dye (1/2 C dye to 1 ½ C water) and quickly took it out to start drying. When dyeing paper items, the quicker you get it in and out the better. Then I dyed the rope, Scrabble tiles and canvas tag in Apple Green.
The I placed all dyed items in a cardboard box on paper towels to dry completely.
When the apple was dry, I used Mod Podge Hard Coat to cover the place where the store sticker still looked icky with some cute scrapbook paper and a heart cut out with the school year written on it. I used Sharpie to make sure it wouldn’t smear.
I filled the box with Werthers candy.
Then I tied it shut with the rope, attaching the tag through the slit. The last step was attaching the Scrabble tiles to the box. To do this, I used hot glue.
