Yes, I am on project SIX of TEN with the fabulous finds I gathered in that shopping spree at Hobby Lobby to create masterpieces with Rit Dye! I decided not to use the pom poms on this one and instead to go for a classier more sophisticated look.
I folded the towel in half and then half again and used a rubber band to separate the top two inches from the rest of the towel. Then I dipped the larger part in Tangerine dye and held it there for five minutes. When I took it out I rinsed it and then dipped the smaller part in Apple Green then rinses again. After that I removed the rubber band, rinsed the entire thing, washed/dried it then ironed the towel.
I also dyed a few canvas fabric strips in the Tangerine and Apple Green (and washed and rinsed) to apply as towel accents. I sewed the green strip across the bottom, adding Laura Kelly buttons from Buttons Galore in Candy Apple Green and Outrageous Orange.
Then I tied a bow with the orange strip and stitched it on to the green strip, in the middle of the towel. I used embroidery floss from Coats and Clark for the stitching components in this project. When it was complete, I fell in love with it and decided to set it up for a photo shoot with some of my other loved Halloween things.
