When I get home from a conference (or a trade show) and I sort through my goodies, new contacts’ business cards, swag and “stuff”, there are always a few things that jump out and inspire me. Sometimes I am inspired to reconnect with someone I met or to create a new project. Sometimes I am reminded to follow through on commitments I made in conversations. All shows are different and the follow up process always offers surprises.
I attended Bloggy Conference 10 days ago at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio with a bunch of bloggers and fabulous new friends. In following up and sorting through “stuff” and my experience, this is what jumps out and inspires me.
Me and My Peeps:
I love my characters because they represent the people in my life. My two friends, Niki Meiners and Katie Berry joined me on this adventure. We took along our “Peeps” and throughout the journey created conversations and fun with them and the other sponsors (Honda, Udderly Smooth, Skyo and Cedar Point). I love the lotion by Udderly Smooth because it makes my hands and skin feel soft without getting all greasy and gross.
I always love to draw custom “Peeps” and had a ball meeting new friends.
I love it when I get a business card that has been creatively enhanced to portray the giver’s personality. Here are my top four faves! Katie Berry had handmade berry magnets in her cards. Niki’s cards had a button with her website and a flower to embellish. Carrie’s (My Favorite Finds) came in a vellum envelope with washi tape to close it up. Jenny Spencer’s (Ignite Learning) card was attached to a magic wand and adorable message!
Amy Latta, One Artsy Mama:
I attended the “Building Your Community” workshop taught by Amy Latta and learned lots of new things while being reminded of things I know but fail to give myself credit for. Sometimes when a fellow blogger states that something is useful or valuable that I am already doing but questioning, it builds my confidence and well…inspires me. Amy’s words did just that! Her blog is One Artsy Mama and I recommend that you check it out. Here are my notes from the workshop.
I am always amazed and how no matter the time I spend with my friends, a road trip brings us closer and teaches me so many lessons about life and love and connection. I am truly fortunate to have had the days I had with Niki and Katie. They rock. Their blogs rock. Please check them out and give them some love. Niki is 365 Days of Crafts and Katie is A Sweet Berry Blog. Here we are together.
Wrapping it up, I have lots of notes to send out and thank you notes to write and new contacts to work with which is very exciting! On that note, I am off to get started…using my new memo pad from expressionery, another one of the fabulous sponsors.
Just wondering, what is your favorite part of following up after a show?
