Being a contributing designer for Doll Diaries is a part of my job (s) that I really enjoy. Finding ways to get creative with the products I love, my position as resident designer for the Rit Studio, my imagination and dolls keeps me inspired. On my post today for Doll Diaries, I am sharing a fun sleeping bag project (made from old pants) and when I was making it, I decided to make this too. After all, every doll needs her own sleeping bag and matching sleepover bag right?
I cut out the back pocket from the pants (and the few inches above it too) and a slice of the pant leg then dyed them in Fuchsia Rit Dye, washed them and let them dry. If you want doodles on your pocket, you can draw them first with Elmers School Glue as a resist. I explain this method on Doll Diaries today.
When the two pieces were dry, I used Liquid Stitch to get the slice of pant leg attached to the bag by folding the excess pant over to close it in.
Then I added some necessary sleepover things; Saige’s toothbrush, toothpaste, powder dust, washcloth and teddy bear). I embellished the bag with Saige’s favorite buttons – Rit Dye and Cre8time. Cre8time has a fabulous mission to remind people to access their creativity – at least 8 minutes a day. Saige’s mission to save arts in the schools lines right up with Cre8time (and with mine too)!
Happy creating PINK things this October. Don’t forget that it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Think Pink and Take Care of YOU!
