It all started with an envelope. I went to the mailbox today to get my mail of course…and this is what I pulled out. I was totally inspired by my happy mail from Lindsay Ostrom, my creative friend and fellow licensing artist who lives on the other side of the country.
It is not all a happy story. She was mailing something back to me, her goodies from the Popcorn Box Blog Hop because she didn’t get her project done in time, including the popcorn. Seriously! She is so sweet and it was so unnecessary. She has lots of fabulous reasons that she didn’t get it done and even if she didn’t, it was just for fun! She is one of the kindest, most loving creative spirits I know. Ipopped the popcorn and got busy.
I decided to make the best possible use of the amazing artwork on the envelope so this is what I did.
I also received a happy mail box of goodies from Deco Art. I painted a wooden frame black, including the insert for the back. When it was dry, I used Deco Art’s Decou-Page to apply the artwork to the insert piece.
While it was drying, I used the Decou-Page to apply my beautifully lettered name to a piece of burlap. I hot glued a painted popsicle stick to the back and a then a piece of burlap trim.
To add a little Laura Kelly touch, I stitched some button stacks with my button collection from Buttons Galore and More to add to both pieces.
I tied my name to a jar and added some fall folliage from the yard. I added a burlap hanger to the frame and Ta-Da…new autumn decor.
I love it. I love Lindsay. I love days where inspiration shows up in the mail. I truly believe in the magic of the postal service and the value of the written word!
Happy Autumn! Go give Lindsay some love. She has a blog too! I promise you will be inspired.
