To kick off the festivities of holiday creating, I am sharing a great project that you can make and then give as a gift or sell at a craft show and make a great profit. This is one of my favorites…Microwave Popcorn Covers! The most popular always seems to be the snowman.
You will need white card stock, decorative papers or fabrics, Laura Kelly buttons from Buttons Galore and More, light pink paint for blush ( I used Americana), ribbon, Sharpie marker, scissors, Glue Dots and/or hot glue. Oh…and the popcorn too of course.
The first step is to cut your white card stock in half to measure 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 and wrap it around the package of microwave popcorn then glue it closed. I glued it to the package first to get a good hold. Second, paint circles where you want the cheeks to be. While the paint is drying, cut out your snowman’s accessories and choose buttons to embellish. Add the accessories, buttons and ribbon for a scarf with whichever glue you are more comfortable using. Then use your black Sharpie marker to add a smile. Ta Da!
If you want to make use of your extra supplies, you can make little note cards or gift tags with the same materials.
They are super cute when bagged up to be used for goody bags at a holiday movie night or to give to teachers at a holiday luncheon.
Happy Getting Ready For The Holidays,
Laura
