Over the summer I created an adventure for myself…a quest really! My goals was to go in Hobby Lobby and buy ten things that I could dye and use to create projects that were fun and had good purpose. I did it and here is one of them. For Day SIX of 30 Days Of Christmas With Me, Laura (#30DaysOfChristmasWithMe) I am sharing Christmas Wrap-Ups with Hand-Made Paper Gift Tags to Dye For.
I used “Fringe” from Canvas Corp and dyed it in two colors of Rit Dye (Dark Green and Scarlett Red) using hot dye baths in glass bowls. When the fringe was rinsed completely in the sink, I put it out to dry.
I embellished it to create wraps. To do this I used my holiday Laura Kelly collection from Buttons Galore and did pretend stitching using embroidery floss from Coats and Clark. (as in I stitched them together in little stacks that would really get glued to the wraps).
I also cut up pieces of holiday decorative papers and some white card stock to make gift cards that would be attached. Then I used Ad Tech hot glue to put the all together. Wa La!
It is super easy and really fun. I think this is a great way to create handmade gift wrap with your own personality dyed right in. I especially love the Viewtainers with baking yummies in them. I plan to make these for hostess gifts at my baking party in December.
Happy Happy Happy,
