CHA 2014 was hands down the best one to date! Not only was the atmosphere incredible creative and inspiring but equally refreshing, professional and sophisticated. Being a Designer Member of CHA is awesome and attending this show is the best way I can think of to begin each new year!
Here are my top three out of a million reminders of why I so deeply love being involved in this industry. They all seem to have a commonality – the relationships and connections!
1. I love the people, the people, the people!
I love the once-a-year opportunity to see old friends and make new ones that share a common vision for a world filled with others creating and sharing and living outside of the lines we were told to color in as children. Here are some of my faves. It was an honor to meet Jonathan Fong and work beside him in the Makers Space. He is a delight. Angela Daniels is a hoot and a half. Do you recognize any of these other awesome Peeps?
2. I love playing on teams.
Being the resident designer for Rit is such an honor and being a part of their team this year was invigorating and radiant. From the pre-shop prep to execution, teaching the workshop and supporting the dyeing movement; I had a ball being part of such a colorful bunch.
Licensing for and working with Buttons Galore and More creates such joy. I LOVE Buttons! Creating the garden with Rit Dyed canvas and buttons was awesome fun. Sponsoring the breakfast for the design team and meeting many of them for the first time was so rewarding.
And of course my relationship with Plaid Enterprises, the manufacturers of Me and My Peeps decals and iron-ons is special. Their booth was spectacular this year. I always love to be a part of their energy and contribution to the industry.
3. I am proud to be a CHA designer member with other designers who are up to the same lifestyle game that I am and are willing to give back.
The Banners of Hope Project was definitely a highlight this year. Kudos to Lorine Mason for all of her incredibly hard work.
There is so much more to share and next week, I promise I will! Until then, Happy Weekend!
