I love when I save stuff from going to the dump! This St. Patrick’s Day garland was made from dip dyed coffee filters that were destined for the trash as they are not needed in the Keurig machine, leftover cupcake liners and scrapbook paper and old newspapers out of the neighbor’s recycling bin!
I dip dyed the coffee filters in a dye bath of Rit Dye (Apple Green and Dark Green) consisting of half hot water and half dye then let them dry completely.
The newspapers that the coffee filters dried on were pretty fabulously decorated so we cut them in circles to use too. I also cut little shamrocks from leftover glitter scrapbook paper from making Christmas pickles.
I stitched through the materials to make balls from button to shamrock to cupcake liner to newspaper circle to 3 filters to newspaper to cupcake liner to shamrock to button and then back through to tie a knot holding it together.
Every ball came 0ut a little different from the rest.
To string the balls, I tied them through the centers to a long piece of ribbon. I made some extra balls with just filters and buttons to go in between the others.
With the extra balls, I decorated the chairs and made napkin rings.
Happy Getting Green With Fun For St. Patrick’s Day,
