I found this white 100% cotton waffle shower curtain at World Market and determined immediately that it was the perfect one to use for Z’s bathroom shower curtain request. Now that she has her very own bathroom in the new house, she asked it she could do it in tie-dye style. Because 100% cotton works best when creating with Tulip one-step tie-dye kits, I bought it.
I started outdoors with a totally wet shower curtain in the grass and 4 colors of dye in spray bottles.
I put a few paper plates and some rocks on the bottom to create areas that would remain white when I sprayed on the dye.
I used the spray bottles this time, green on the bottom and blue on the top. I did drip some dye too.
When I finished the big parts, I removed the plates and added some orange and pink in the plate circles first, and then where the rocks were.
I left in outside all day then brought in in and rinsed in completely then put it outside to dry. It dried overnight in the back yard.
I added details with embroidery floss, turning the little rock circles into flowers. I added buttons from my Laura Kelly collection of buttons too.
Then I painted clouds with Tulip Fabric Paint and added silver linings with Beads in a Bottle. After all, clouds do have silver linings, right?
Lastly, I added ribbons to the big plate circles with Aleene’s fabric fusion to create some additional bright fun.
She LOVES it.
Next up, matching towels and hand painted ceramics to complete the room!
