Truth is… it’s all about the embellies from Duncan. They are the little ceramic pieces that can adhere to bigger ones before firing in the kiln for a permanent effect. They are like the sprinkles on cupcakes to ceramics. Jordan’s birthday plate was my test. We all love it. I have three more kiddos so you know what that means…three more are coming very soon. Her birthday just happened to be the first one coming up. You can make this at your local ceramics studio for your kids too!
This is how I painted it.
Then I added her name with French Dimensions. To get perfect eyes, I dipped the end of the paintbrush in black and dotted it on. I know, big time techniques. Ba ha ha!
TIP: Before glazing, make sure it is TOTALLY dry as in 100% completely. I care not to share how I know this to be true. I MIGHT have had a major ceramic fail dipping wet French Dimensions.
I will be sure to share the other three when they are done. I think I will use three other shapes of embellies for them…well just because. In the meantime, I did use another star during this painting spree to make a mug for Antonio, our car fix-it man. He is going to absolutely LOVE it.
It is crazy fun how much it transforms in the Skutt kiln. Look at it before it was glazed!
