DIY Fabric Scrap Garland for a Tween Room

This DIY fabric scrap garland for a tween room is one of my favorite things I’ve ever made.  If you remember back a few months ago, I sewed 500 goody bags for the attendees at SNAP.  I had these bright and festive fabric pieces left over so I put them to good use and created this garland for Jordan’s newly decorated girly (but tweenish) room.

You only need fabric scraps, scissors and a long piece of ribbon to make this.  I used scraps that were about 2 inches wide by 24 inches long but you could alter to be any size.

Supplies

Be sure to cut the labeling (better known in the sewing world as the selvage) off the ends.

Salvage

To get the garland to hang pretty, be sure to tie double knots with each scrap as you attach them to the ribbon.  The more you tie on, the thicker it will appear upon completion.

I am loving it in Jordan’s room.  I made her all kinds of goodness for her wall beside her bed because she is amazing and I love her so.

Happy Using Scraps,

Laura
