My Little Felt Orca and Friendship

This week is ‘Visit the Aquarium’ week at Camp Doll Diaries and as a contributor, this makes me super happy because I LOVE the aquarium.  As I was creating the project post for tomorrow, I found myself realizing that this project is really very meaningful to me because it represents what matters most to me…creativity and relationships.  My friend Char, the founder of Doll Diaries, is an amazing and supportive friend.  Over the past couple of years, we have formed a fantastic friendship that began because we were bloggers with daughters who play with dolls.  Another friend I met in the creativity world is Kerry Goulder (aka Kid Giddy) who wrote the book Sewing Tales to Stitch and Love.  When I grabbed her book to get the pattern I wanted to use for the Doll Diaries this clicked in my mind…the friends I have made in my field matter so much to me.  I want them to be crazy successful.  And then…when I went to get felt from my fabric shelves I thought about Debra Quartermain who runs the team for Kunin Group.  Debra is the kindest person on the planet and I am so thankful that she is a part of my life.  So this post is merely a chance for me to share about my little felt orca and friendship.

The book is so awesome and user friendly (even for me…a beginning at sewing).

Materials

I just followed the steps.  I cut out the felt with my Westcott scissors.  I love working with them.  I sewed it up and stuffed it with Poly-Fil from Fairfield World!  TaDa.

I love when I can use this stamp that I designed for Expressionery.  Yay.  You can order one too HERE!  It is called the Needle and Thread Custom Stamp.  Expressionery was my VERY FIRST art license and over the past 10 plus years, I have gotten to know the team and consider them to be friends too.  They are the best team to work with, hands down!

To top it all off, I really made two orcas.  The other one went home with Laura Neiman (my bestie)’s daughter.  I sewed it wrong and it needed surgery.  I love Laura and her family.  I love that that little guy was going with a little girl who would love him and fix him and play with him.  It just completed the creative/friendship circle for this day.

I made a little wordsearch puzzle to share…so you can be included in this fun on a little way too.  You can download it free HERE.  Enjoy!

[…] We LOVE the aquarium…our whole family that is!  Sea life is so amazing.  We are annual members of the North Carolina Aquariums as well as Sea World to support sea life studies and animal rehabilitation/rescue.  I think McKenna loves the aquarium too.  I had so much fun putting this together and reflected on it and why it was so special over on my blog HERE.
