If you’ve been following along this month, I have been sharing fun crafts for kids to do over spring break. Spring break is such a great time for kids to access their imaginations and create! Most of the kids I know love animals, especially puppies. This fun little idea is a great way to allow kids to use lots of mediums including Styrofoam, Kunin Group felt, paint and glue. This post was sponsored but all ideas and opinions are my own.
You will need the following supplies.
- Syrofoam Ball
- Acrylic Apple Barrel Paint – Assorted Colors
- Paintbrush
- Kuni Group Felt – Assorted Colors
- Glue
- Yarn (if pom pom nose is desired)
- Scissors
Start with a Styrofoam ball. You can use any size. These are made with 4 inch balls. I like this size because they are large enough to work well with little hands but not so big that they take forever to paint. Paint your balls first and allow them time to dry.
Cut your puppy’s ears, eyes and nose from felt. I used Kunin Group’s eco-fi classic felt in several colors. These can be any shape and size because puppies come in all shapes and sizes! Felt is a great medium for kids because it cuts easily and doesn’t fray.
Add your pieces with glue.
I glued the puppies to wooden blocks to create bookends.
You could use these same supplies and make a whole zoo of animals! Lots of books have great animal characters that could be recreated too with this project.
Cheers to Creating and Crafting with Kids,
Laura
