CREATIVE Back to School Clay Zipper Pulls and Jewelry

It is the first day of my CREATIVE Back to School Series (Part One) featuring ideas and projects you can do at home.  It’s no secret, I get really excited about Back to School season.  Summertime is super fun but there is just so much excitement about heading back to the classrooms and all that comes with it.  The renewing of friendships and the anticipation of new learning makes my kids really happy.  Every year we get creative and come up with new ideas to celebrate this time while making things that are useful and supportive.  These CREATIVE Back to School Clay Zipper Pulls and Jewelry do just that.  With the start of high school for Jordan, this project offers an opportunity for her to start spreading Grandview High School love (class of 2022 even).  This post is sponsored by Sculpey clay but the ideas and opinions are my own.

Something else to love -   DIY Hand Washing Station

To get started, offer your kids a variety of colors of clay.  We used Bake Shop Clay because it is our favorite to work with.  It is soft and molds easily with fingers.

Create your objects and little things for zipper pulls or jewelry charms.  Keep in mind the size and the weight as you work.  Smaller is sometimes better for things like this.  Once your item is molded, add a hole through it.  For this frog, we used a needle as a long hat pin is going to be used to create a charm so the hole can be narrow.

Once the items are baked, let them cool.  Bake according to the directions in the Bake Shop clay packaging.  Then add the pieces that you are using to turn them into charms and pulls.  You can twist wire, long pins or even add them right to pins.

Something else to love -   Classroom Bulletin Board Push Pin Hack

These pins are super rad.  They come apart so you can put your pieces on the side that doesn’t open.  We found them on Amazon and you can grab them too.

Ta Da!  Check out these masterpieces.  I am pretty much in love with the laughing emoji on Zoe’s lunchbox.  I can hardly believe that we are even talking about high school around here nonetheless, the class of 2022!  I love J’s zipper pull in her school colors.

Check back tomorrow for another awesome CREATIVE Back to School project.

Cheers,

Laura
