ay! It is time to start thinking about going back to school. Our kids all greatly prefer to take their lunches over buying at school which makes me so happy. It gives us the chance to pack healthy and yummy foods and a place to send messages to the kids. This year we whipped up some CREATIVE Back to School DIY Felt Lunch Bags with felt from Kunin Group. This post is sponsored but the ideas and the opinions are all mine.
We started with Kunin Group felt, Prism floss, a needle (and scissors). The first step is to cut the 5 main parts of the sack. You will need a front and a back (12″ tall by 7 ” wide), 2 sides (12″ tall by 6″ wide) and a bottom (7# by 6″). We recommend using the eco-fi Plus for the base of the sack because it is a little thicker and sturdier. Next, cut out felt decorations for the front.
For the flower bag, I used my flower die that I designed for Sizzix/Ellison Education. I love ethe way the dies cut right through felt and make it just so easy peasy.
Hand stitch your decorations to the front.
Sew your sack together. Sew the sides to each other first, leaving the last until after you have sewn the bottom in. Then sew the last side shut. Add a button to the back and a hair tie to the front to create a closure.
Handmade items are always the best. This bag could be done to celebrate school colors, mascots or teams. It could be decorated with monograms, initials or favorite icons. If you are a lunch packer and like to send little lunchbox notes, here are some fun ones that you can download and cut apart to stick in the bags.
Cheers to Back to School, Felt Lunch Sacks and Creativity,
