Mini Hoop Art Designs for Autumn

These mini hoop art designs for autumn are a great way to create handmade decor for your home.  The stitching is great for beginners and kiddos so it is a project that can be done by just about anyone.  I totally love this embroidery floss from Nancy’s Nations because it never tangles.  I can honestly say that I have yet to get a tangle on any project using this awesome Madeira hand embroidery floss.  This post is sponsored by Nancy’s Notions but the ideas and opinions are my own.

For this project you will need the following supplies and materials.

  • Embroidery Hoop
  • Felt and/or Fabric
  • Needles and Threader
  • Madeira Hand Embroidery Floss
  • Micro Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Felt Hoop Art Pattern Halloween

Start by determining what you want to be the background fabric in your hoop art.  For this piece, I chose burlap.  Then cut out little felt or fabric designs to be stitched to your background.  I cut out a bat, a ghost and a pumpkin.  Just in case you are not comfortable cutting freehand, I created a little printable pattern that you can use.  The four inch scissor are great for detailed cutting on curves and points and work for left and right handed cutters.  Fun fact, I am left handed but often cut with my right.  I can cut with either hand.

These are the designs in the pattern.  You can use a copy machine to make them smaller or larger if desired.

Choose the colors you want to use from your hand embroidery floss collection.  I chose these.

I like to get all of my needles thread before I start.  I am not a huge fan of threading needles so this makes the rest of the creating process far more enjoyable for me than if I have to stop repeatedly to re-thread.

Stitch your cut out designs to the background fabric.  Add details as desired.  I added a little extra color by creating a stem and leaves for the pumpkin.  The four inch scissors are super helpful for being able to cut close without messing up your work.

I created a larger hoop art designs for the Kunin Group blog.  You can check it out and see how simple it was to create.  Did you know that I am a design team member Kunin Group?

Cheers to creating handmade decor with stitching and hoops!
