Kindness Bunny

A few weeks ago I shared kindness critters on my blog.  Shortly thereafter I received a letter in the mail from a kind lady asking for me to send the pattern and directions to her.  I did and in the envelope I also sent the pattern to make a bunny.  She made the kindness pets with her retirement home community and in the comments on the post asked me to show how to make the bunny.  So, here it is.  I love the hedgehog kindness pet from the previous post but think I might love this bunny even more.  This post is sponsored by Fairfield World.  They make the Poly-Pellets that give this kindness bunny the weight and the feel that it deserves.  The ideas and opinions are my own.

To make a kindness bunny, you will need the following supplies and materials:

• Fairfield World Poly-Pellets
• Kunin Felt / Fabric Scraps
• Needle and Embriodery Floss
• Scissors
• FREE Printable Pattern
• Sewing Machine
• Buttons for Eyes or Can Be Stitched
• Straight Pins

Start by cutting out the pattern pieces for your kindness bunny and pinning them to felt or fabric.  Cut them out and remove the pins.  I recommend felt for the base pieces to make your kindness bunny durable.  Cut a pocket the width of your bunny body and however high you want it to be.  I made mine about 2 inches tall before the finishing edge.

Sew your inner ears to the ears.  Sew the nose to the front.  Sew the heart on the back.  Sew the top of the pocket piece down about 1/4 inch to get a finished edge.  Do all this on your sewing machine with a zig-zag stitch.

Pin your bunny together.

Sew around the entire outside ensuring that your arms and ears are sewn in tight.  Leave a two inch opening in the bottom middle for stuffing.  Remove the pins and fill 5/6 of the cavity with Poly-Pellets.  They will give your bunny weight and fullness.  It should feel like a beanbag.

Stitch on black felt eyes and whiskers.

Print the kindness cards (or make your own) and put them in the pockets each day.   You can grab the cards in a free printable from the post of the Kindness Critters!
